Tips & FAQ

Tips ~ Wireless Public Address Systems

  • Ajust all volume controls to zero or minimum level prior to turing the unit on. This prevents any "thumps" at power on. Adjust receiver and master volume controls up to a comfortable level after powered on.
  • Project the sound of the system over the heads of the audience so people sitting in the front row will not block the sound and experience excessive loudness so people sitting at the back can hear clearly, too.
  • Work on your microphone technique. Test the microphone levels before your guests arrive. Stand at the farthest end of the premises and listen carefully to get a feel of what is being said during the sound check.
  • Make sure you elevate and place the speaker at an appropriate position to maximize coverage and minimise feedback.
  • Do not place the microphone directly in front of the loudspeaker.
  • Do not install the PA speaker too far from the person speaking.
  • Always have spare batteries for the wireless microphones.
  • Charge your portable system the day before your function.
  • Do not forget to recharge the PA system after each use and never leave the batteries discharged for any extended period of time.
  • Keep the wireless microphone as close as possible to speaker's mouth.
  • It is a good idea to have a wired handheld microphone at the ready as a backup in case the wireless microphone failed to perform.
  • Small clip-on lavalier microphones are more susceptible to feedback if you have an inexperienced audio guy operating the audio equipment. Wireless handheld microphone is a better solution. Headworn microphone would be next in line.
